This comprehensive course is the complete DJ tutorial, taking students through to advanced levels of DJing, able to master complex technical aspects as well as being adept at a range of sets, from warm up slots to closing.
The course starts from a foundation of teaching you how to beatmatch using your ears (not just push a sync button) and students will have the choice of using vinyl, if they prefer, or getting to grips with the industry-standard Pioneer CDJ-2000.
Once you’ve learnt the principles of beats, bars and phrasing, drop mixing and beat-matching you’ll then be introduced to using EQ, FX, loops and Hot Cues in the mix. You’ll also learn how to incorporate harmonic mixing using Mixed In Key and Rekordbox, both of which are used by renowned DJs around the world.
The course will also show you the difference between programming a warm-up or main set, to club and festival sets and how to adapt. You’ll have the foundation to build upon to create your own sound & style, and we’ll also show you how to promote yourself and gain exposure.
There are a raft of special features with the DJ Masterclass course. Students graduate the course by performing in the Toolroom Academy Live room, and their session is filmed and professionally edited. There are opportunities for our best students to play at our London residency at Egg.
The course will be taught in the Toolroom label headquarters, in our bespoke DJ Academy room. Each student will have their own DJ station, which includes 2 x Pioneer CJD-2000 NXS2 and a Pioneer DJM-900 NXS2.
